Our Mission

The mission of the Wharton Alliance is to provide professional advice and support for LGBTQ undergraduates at the University of Pennsylvania including mentoring workshops, targeted recruiting, and social events.

Our goal is to create an environment in which LGBTQ undergraduates feel comfortable discussing their concerns and learning about sexual orientation in the workplace. We aim to provide a comprehensive overview of LGBTQ life after graduation, with a focus on the financial services and consulting industries. In order to do so, we have active programming throughout the year that includes alumni panels, case competitions, LinkedIn photo shoots, interview preparation, networking events with sponsor firms, social events, and more.

Our History

Founded in 2005, the Wharton Alliance began as a club that brought together LGBTQ students with an interest in business. Just as today, the club held recruiting events with various corporations, provided professional workshops to educate and prepare students for interviews, and held social events to bring together the Penn LGBTQ community.

Since then, The Wharton Alliance has expanded into one of the most prominent undergraduate diversity groups at the University of Pennsylvania, and one of the most prominent undergraduate LGBTQ groups in the nation. With over 150 members, we have expanded our offering to include additional industries such as technology and retail, and are collaborating with other universities and national LGBTQ organizations such as Out for Undergrad to provide our members with the best possible information.
