Wharton Alliance 2024 Executive Board

Presidents

Zach Koung

Zach is a Senior in the College from Ellicott City, Maryland, studying Political Science. Zach has a background in LGBTQ policy; he previously served as a member of his local board of education and passed an unprecedented policy that created an LGBTQ+ studies course for high school students in his district. Zach is involved with several other organizations on campus, including as a Fellow of the SNF Paideia Program, a member of the Student Committee on Undergraduate Education, and a Tour Guide in the Kite and Key Society.

Laura Brodkey

Laura is a junior in Wharton from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, concentrating in Business Economics and Public Policy as well as Statistics. She joined Case Competition her freshman fall and has loved watching the committee grow and tackle new diversity-related business issues. Aside from Wharton Alliance, Laura is involved in outdoor education both as an Outward Bound Instructor and PennQuest Leader. She also plays on the UPenn Women's Club Soccer team, is a member of the OAX Society, and, in her spare time, hosts spontaneous dinner parties and guitar sessions with friends. 

Vice Presidents of Case Competition

Carina Li

Carina is a sophomore from Montgomery, New Jersey studying finance and legal studies. She joined case competition in 2022 and has loved learning more about DEI consulting and watching the committee grow. She worked in social impact consulting with a sustainable seafood company and a solar panel company from 2022-2023. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, running, lifting, and reading the Wikipedia pages of obscure topics.

Jacob Allen

Jacob is a junior from Port Orchard, Washington, studying Behavioral Economics and Finance. He joined the team in the Fall of 2023. Jacob has experience with ESG investing and worked with TIAA Nuveen to build a sustainable investment portfolio of fintech companies in the United States. Jacob is passionate about finding ESG solutions in business and hopes to work with a fintech company after graduation. Outside of Wharton Alliance, Jacob enjoys running, skiing, hiking, and spending his time outdoors exploring new places.

Katie Chen

Katie is a sophomore from Lexington, Massachusetts studying finance and business analytics at Wharton. Katie joined Wharton Alliance her freshman year to join a tight-knit community and promote diversity and inclusion initiatives in business. Outside of Wharton Alliance, Katie is on the executive board of Songwriters Collective and Panhellenic Council. In her spare time, she loves espresso, live music, and poetry.

Kate Butcher

Kate is a junior in the College Studying Health and Societies concentrating in business markets and finance from Wellesley Massachusetts. She joined Management her sophomore year and is excited to continue creating events to being the Wharton Alliance and UPenn’s LGBTQ+ community together. In her free time Kate enjoys exploring Philadelphia, cooking, photography, working out and traveling.

Directors of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Faresi is a junior in The College majoring in Political Science with a concentration in IR as well as Modern Middle Eastern Studies with an English Minor. He joined DEI sophomore Fall, and worked on the committee’s initiatives since then. Being an international student from the Middle East, he feels particularly connected to the focal points of DEI and the intersectionality of LGBTQ+ identities. Faresi also writes for Under The Button — The Daily Pennsylvanian, and is a part of the Penn Arab Student Society. Outside of academics, Faresi enjoys powerlifting, writing, playing the guitar, and exploring cafes.

Sahil Mehta

Sahil is a Sophomore from Toronto, Canada studying finance and history. He joined the Operations committee his Freshman fall, and has enjoyed organizing large club events including the Charity Drag Show this December. Outside of Wharton Alliance, Sahil competes on Penn’s Mock Trial team, does VC sourcing with Moso Capital, and is a member of the Assembly of International Students, and DiversaTech Consulting. In his free time Sahil loves completing the daily Worldle, natural photography, and traveling.

Fen Cleveland

Fen is a Freshman in Wharton from Charlotte, North Carolina, concentrating in Real Estate and minoring in Urban Real Estate Development. He joined the Operations Committee in 2023, and loved planning the annual Drag Show as well as collaborating with his team. Fen is involved with several other organizations on campus, including as an honors student with Joseph Wharton Scholars, as a member of the Wharton Undergraduate Real Estate Club, and as a brother of Phi Chi Theta. In his free time, Fen reviews restaurants and loves exploring Philadelphia.
